Pacific Poker In 2010

Pacific Poker has always been a favorite amongst Non-U.S. poker players due to their ultra-loose action. I recall playing FL Omaha there before they booted US players in 2004. Play Online Rummy For Real Money

I was surprised to find out that rummy is the 3rd most played card game online. I’ve always played rummy when I was younger but until recently I have never played rummy online. That all changed when I checked out a room called Rummy Royal. This is the Pokerstars of the online rummy industry. They allow you to play two different ways:

The thing I liked most about this room is that they gave me $5 to try out their service. This is not a membership based program or anything. In many regards it is a lot like online poker. They take rake out of each stake and buy-in. The stakes are what players put up for single games. For instance, say me and three other people play a game of rummy for $50. We would actually each have a $55 buy-in, the other $5 is for the house. In tournaments its virtually identical to the system Pokerstars uses. If you want to play in a rummy tournament with a $109 buy-in, the other $9 will be going to the house.

Cheating in online rummy is virtually non-existent because it is so easy to catch. Another thing I like is that since it is considered by most states to be a skill game it is absolutely legal. Around 12 states have restrictions against it but for the most part playing online rummy for cash is legit.

If you guys want to check it out visit Rummy Royal using THIS LINK. When you are signing up enter the bonus code 5WELCOME. After that you just need to verify your email address and the cash will be available. They are also running $10 freerolls twice a day so you won’t want to miss those. This rummy room boasts 5 different forms of rummy so make sure you know how to play before you start playing for cash.

Huge Overlays At Pokerstar’s SCOOP Events

The turnout at some of the Spring Championship of Online Poker, a.k.a SCOOP, events has been pretty low. Since all of the events are guaranteed there have been some huge overlays. I was writing a post on my 7 card stud blog about the overlays just for the three 7 Card stud H/L events that will be running tomorrow and I saw that there was currently over $150,000 worth of overlays. There is still around 18 hours until registration closes so they are bound to fill up a bit more, especially the small stakes Stud championship but I don’t believe it will be possible for the combined overlays to be anything less than $100,000. Keep in mind this is just counting the Stud H/L tournaments. Below I have written an overview for a couple of the completed SCOOP tournaments including info on overlays and winners.

SCOOP H.O.R.S.E Poker Championship Tournaments

The H.O.R.S.E poker tournaments had a much smaller overlay but H.O.R.S.E has always been pretty popular, especially amongst professional players. Actually only the middle stakes H.O.R.S.E tournament had an overlay. The buyin for this event was $1,050 and there were 444 entires. It had a GTD prize pool of $500,000 so there was a $33,000 overlay. Below are the results for the 3 HORSE events.

  • Small Stakes H.O.R.S.E Championship - Winner: tomacampi, 1st Place Prize: $43,452.51
  • Medium Stakes H.O.R.S.E Championship - Winner: ramonieye, 1st Place Prize: $95,000.00
  • High Stakes H.O.R.S.E Championship - Winner: Wrasse, 1st Place Prize: $260,000.00

SCOOP Five Card Draw Championships

There were a couple nice overlays in the 5 card draw championships. The small stakes buyin tournament was not one of these though. The tourney had a $25k guarantee but the prize pool was nearly $50,000. The same can’t be said for the other two though. The middle stakes tournament had a $25,000 overlay and the high stakes pot limit 5 card draw tourney had a  $80,000 overlay.  I  typically only play 5 card draw at home games and such but I wish I had played in these events. There is just so much extra value.  Each seat at the high stakes event was worth over $1,600 but it only cost $1,050.

  • Small Stakes PL 5 card Draw Championship - Winner: xMOUSSx, 1st Place Prize: $6,545.31
  • Medium Stakes PL 5 card Draw Championship - Winner: dmitry999, 1st Place Prize: $17,630.00
  • High Stakes PL 5 card Draw Championship - Winner: sexygee 1st Place Prize: $54,500.00

Tournament Overlay Basics

You would think that these overlays would hurt Pokerstars but in reality they do the opposite. Pokerstars has been getting a record number of sign-ups directly because of these tournaments and more importantly the overlays. I would estimate that in the end Pokerstars will lose around $5,000,000 in overlays for the spring championship tournaments. That me seem like a lot to me and you but to Pokerstars it is a small price to pay for the PR they receive. As the world’s largest online poker room they could do this every week and still make huge sums of money. If you are interested in playing at Pokerstars visit the following link to find out how you can receive a special bonus.
